Rob Schoen Bio

Rob is the president & founder of Axis Virtual Construction. He has been in the steel industry for over 27 years and has a vast range of experience from shop QA/QC to now President and Owner of Axis. He serves and has served on AISC committees from the TI committee to the NASCC planning committee. He has also served as the Arizona Chapter director for the NISD and is the current Chapter-at-large President of the NISD. He speaks regularly at the NASCC and also spoken at UVU and BYU on structural detailing, the steel industry, and construction. He was most recently published in the February 2015 Modern Steel Construction magazine. He is a Class 1 certified detailer with the NISD.

Rob attended Utah Valley State College graduating with an AAS Degree in Drafting Technology. During his time in school he was the president of the VICA class and Vice-President of the Drafting Club.

Rob is fluent in Japanese and served a two-year mission for his church in Sendai, Japan. He is passionate about youth development, football, and scouting. He spends much of his free time volunteering as a football coach at the local high school and as a leader in his local Boy Scout organization.
