Axis received high praise from the general contractor because of the collaboration we had with the design team and general contractor on BIM coordination. This project was a seismic-based design and used slotted beam web detail. This means the beam-to-column connections were detailed with a slot in the top and bottom of the beam webs, giving it moment connection between the flanges of the beam to the flange of the column. The beam flanges also had a reduced flange condition, which means a section of the flanges was cut out at this connection so in the event of an earthquake, the beam will fail before the column.
